Become a member of the Canterbury Horticultural Society.
Your subscription will enable you to achieve discounts on our comprehensive tour programme as well as discounts on education courses and other Society activities. You will also receive a regular summarised hard copy newsletter, which contains information about meetings and activities of many of our circles and affiliated groups.

Garden School
A comprehensive range of courses from gardening topics to floral art. A discount is available to members. In addition, from time to time, the Society arranges lectures and seminars on a variety of gardening topics for members and the general public.
Tours
Day tours, short breaks and longer tours around New Zealand and overseas. Discounted for members. Comprehensive programmes available. Experienced tour guide. Canterbury Horticultural Society has been operating tours for over 15 years.
Publications
Gardening and horticultural happenings are communicated to member through regular newsletters and website content. These are helpful and informative information about garden plants, fruit and vegetables, other horticulture topics and society news.
All About Gardening
A two hour programme of information, gardening tips and fun. The programme is held twice a month, usually on the firstTuesday and the morning of the first Wednesday in the month. Discounted entry for members.
Affiliated Circles
Free entry to special horticultural circles
Library
Members have free use of the extensive horticultural library at our Horticultural Centre in Hagley Park. New books and videos are being added regularly to update the library.
Supporting the Garden City
The Canterbury Horticultural Society actively supports the promotion of Christchurch as the Garden City of New Zealand through its many activities which include organising city-wide garden competitions and awards, in-bound tours for visitors, being a major contributor to the Garden City activities and co-ordinating the register of Open Gardens.
Volunteering
Becoming a CHS volunteer is a great way to meet other members, discuss your gardening concerns and become involved in a rich community of like-minded people. Volunteers typically help within the following areas.
Garage Sale – be part of the team; Ellerslie International Flower Show - setting up the display, watering and general duties; All About Gardening – join the team, ether morning or evening sessions, Set-up & Break down – helping at various events of the society; Potting plants – helping our team prepare plants for sale.
Membership Options
Membership Options include Single, Double Membership or or Associate Friend. As an Associate Friend you will receive special offers from time to time and your contribution will be used to continue the good work of the Canterbury Horticultural Society.
