Interactive Horticulture Workshops
Get pruning, planting and composting in this series of practically-oriented workshops led by well-respected and vastly experienced horticultural practitioners – Terry Windle, Alan Jolliffe, Dave Adams and Michael Coulter.
To complement its current Winter Speaker Series the Canterbury Horticultural Society (CHS) has initiated a series of four “interactive” workshops designed for the home gardener. Running from June, it’s an ideal time for urban and rural gardeners to up-skill over the Winter months.
The carefully selected workshops include; Composting, Pruning, Container Gardening and Planning Your Garden.
The workshops are just one of the strategies to have been developed and adopted by the CHS Board to reconnect Canterbury folk with the CHS vision; To be recognised nationally and internationally for leadership and excellence in developing horticultural activities which positively change the way people live, work and play and the “raison d’etre”: To promote the enjoyment and excellence in horticulture at all levels through quality and innovative member programmes, education and events.
Manager Tony Kunowski says, “the underlying ethos of our strategic direction would be moving from talking about gardening to doing it”. To this end the CHS is moving on two fronts simultaneously; the Winter Speaker Series, widening and deepening the scope of the Society and the Interactive Horticulture Workshops, the first in a series of new skills workshops which seeks to “put ‘horticulture’ back into the CHS”.
