WORM FARMING
Dougal McEachen
Dougal was born in Christchurch and spent most of his early life as a writer in the advertising industry. Saw the error of his ways .. er .. discovered alternative income streams in the new millennium and stumbled into the world of compost worms. Today he operates Earthly Delights Ltd and quietly markets Tiger Worms across the nation . . spreads the good word at every opportunity . . and thoroughly enjoys the company of garden-folk of all kinds.
The Learning Outcomes for this workshop are:
- Start and grow a worm farm
- Jump-start and maintain the Tumbleweed Can-O-Worms
- Improve garden compost
- Improve garden soil
- Recycle organic wastes

FLAX WEAVING
Daphne O’Connell
Daphne O’Connell has enjoyed a 54 year career in dressmaking specialising for 34 years in wedding gowns. She holds a Certificate in Upholstery.
She was introduced to flax weaving by two well-known Ngai Tahu weavers Cath Brown and Reihana Parata and has been weaving at the Te Wananga of Aotearoa completing the Toi Paematua in Maori Art (Rananga). Daphne has made tukutuku panels, ketes, wharaki (mats), tatuas (belts), backpacks and wahakura (baby baskets).
